SEE AND BE SEEN

Light plays a critical role in safety on our roads specially, when visibility conditions weakens. Driving without lights on at dusk (especially for darker color vehicles), can make your vehicle almost invisible in the rear mirrors of other motorists. Cyclists and motorcyclists with defunct or no lights at night become dangerous for both riders and drivers alike.

Make sure to be visible to other drivers at dusk, dawn, night, and in all weather conditions!

During the campaign period car owners can bring their car to any E-car service center for a free headlight test.

7 GOLDEN NIGHT DRIVING TIPS

SLOW DOWN

As a general rule, night driving requires slower speeds than daytime driving.

Because visility is much lower at nighttime than during the day (even on well-lit urban roads), it takes longer to see and react to traffic hazards, pedestrians, and other obstacles.

AIM YOUR HEADLIGHTS

It's important to properly align and aim headlights to ensure that they are aimed on the road, rather than in the eye of oncoming drivers or pointed too far down so the driver can't see as much as legally possible.

If a vehicles' headlight aim is off, it can drastically decrease nighttime visibility. This simple DIY fix can make a tremendous difference and imporve safety.

KEEP YOUR EYES HEALTHY

To reduce the effects of eye fatigue at night while driving, eye doctors often recommend keeping your eyes moving, scanning all around your field of vision instead of focusing on one area.

INVEST IN VALUE-ADDED HEADLIGHTS

Innovative headlight bulbs help increase down road visibility so drivers can react sooner.

Look for headlight bulbs that offer greater down road visibility with a whiter light for improved clarity. Whiter light improves contrast, allowing a driver to better distinguish objects on the side of the road.

ALWAYS SWAP IN PAIRS

Since headlights dim over their lifetime, a new bulb paired with an old bulb creates an uneven field of vision for drivers, which can be a major distraction on the road. Replace headlights in sets of two.

DON'T STARE AT ONCOMING LIGHTS

Bright light can seriously disrupt your concentration at night. To prevent the temporary blindness that comes from your eyes trying to adjust to the bright light avert your eyes from oncoming high beams.

REPLACE BEFORE BURNOUT

Headlights can dim over time, so replacement before burnout is key. Dimming creates less light on the road and less light downroad so drivers can't see as far as before.

When every foot counts, dimmed headlights could be 10, 20 or even 30 feet reduction downroad. All too often, vehicles with burned-out headlights can be found traveling on dark roads, posing a risk to both the driver and others on the road.

A good rule of thumb - can't remember the last time headlights were changed? It is likely time for replacements.
